Danielle and Nicole Lesko

Dynamic Duo of Downtown Wyandotte

Al Fritz, owner of Gizzmo’s and also Alvi’s BBQ, enjoys preparing pulled pork - and it seems - everybody loves to eat it. Al decided to put his passion for pork into full gear when the property next to Gizzmo’s became available.

Al took his ‘low and slow” process and opened the new venue right next door to Gizzmo’s, creating a Dynamic Duo of restaurants!

These two eateries are each unique in their own right making them a powerful pair. At Gizzmo’s, you can tuck yourself away into one of the cozy booths and nibble away on one the many tapas or specialty artisan pizzas that they offer. Manager Danielle Lesko, describes Gizzmo’s as more "seductive”, with over 50 martini’s and small plates -"it’s a place you might go for date night”. They have a large assorted martini menu that will please any cocktail fan.

Alvi’s BBQ, on the other hand, offers cherry smoked meats and home style sides; this menu has a lot of southern flair. From the food to the décor everything was meticulously researched by Al to create the perfect atmosphere. Many of their products are purchased locally including the full line of the Detroit City Distillery products. Alvi’s is a family-friendly restaurant featuring southern style BBQ with a side of charm. "We think of it like one big happy family” says Danielle of the two venues.

As you walk into Alvi’s BBQ, you will see another dynamic duo of sorts. No, you’re not seeing double, its twin sisters Danielle and Nicole Lesko, who are both managers for Al. Danielle, a resident of Wyandotte and Gizzmo’s employee, took on the responsibility of managing the new Alvi’s BBQ restaurant when it opened. Shortly after Nicole, her twin, joined as bar manager.
Danielle states it’s a "labor of love”, while she manages the front/ back of the house and Nicole manages the bar. Danielle enjoys featuring themed specialty food items to compliment the holidays, while Nicole excels at crafting seasonal specialty cocktails made from herbs and fresh fruit. Try the Mango-Tango Tini or a Watermelon margarita are just two of the many specials on these spectacular cocktail menus. Together they work harmoniously to present fabulous food and fantastic cocktails to create the ultimate dining experience.

The fenced outdoor seating in front of both venues is a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner with friends or family. Gizzmo’s and Alvi’s BBQ open early on parade days for breakfast. You can grab your seat on their patio and enjoy specialty breakfast items while you watch the parade go down Biddle! Both restaurants offer seasonal Michigan rotating tap beers as well as many bottled beers. Sultry or Southern these two venues complement each other as they stand side by side.
