Elizabeth Perk and Holy Cow Creamery

A Tasty Tale In Two Cities

Looking for a cool down this Summer? Stop by Holy Cow Creamery, located on Ford Ave. in Wyandotte. Come in and meet the amazing staff and Rosco the Cow to make any day, one to remember.

With frozen custard and more than a dozen different flavors of ice cream to choose from, it’ll be hard to not want to try them all. Go to their Facebook page and see if your name is on the list for a free soft serve ice cream that day. Also, new this year at Holy Cow Creamery are frozen blended lattes and mochas and a kid favorite, the hot chocolate freeze. Be sure not to miss it!

The owners Mark Hayes and Debbie Rote-Hayes also have another great place to stop by in Elizabeth Perk Coffee & Ice-Cream located on Jefferson Ave. in Trenton just at outside of Elizabeth Park. With both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a drive-thru, they have great hand crafted drink selections made with Crimson Cup Coffee, winner of Roast Magazines Coffee Roast of the year in 2016. Now serving breakfast sandwiches and wraps, as well as hot pressed paninis. There is a Hot Dog Cart on Saturdays and Sundays. New this year at Elizabeth Perk, Flavor Burst soft serve ice cream, which is vanilla soft serve ice cream with a Burst of flavor ribboned on the outside (in 8 flavors like strawberry, green, apple, and mango).

Both Holy Cow Creamery and Elizabeth Perk offer flavors from Guernsey Ice Cream out of Northville, Michigan. Thriving for the last 40 years, Guernsey is one of the oldest dairy farms in lower Michigan. Holy Cow Creamery has a dozen Guernsey Ice Cream flavors, while Elizabeth Perk boasts 28 flavors.

Elizabeth Perk opened in April of 2015, while Holy Cow Creamery opened just one year later in April of 2016. When thinking of what kind of business they wanted before opening Elizabeth Perk, Owner Debbie said, "I wanted someplace I could bring my family”. What better place to make memories than an Ice Cream shop.

Mark and Debbie also say they are lucky to have the incredible staff they have. They attribute much of their success to them. They want to continue serving and give back to the Downriver community as much as they have received, for as long as they can. Whether in delicious treats, smiling faces, or fundraising for good causes such as Mimi’s Mission at their Elizabeth Perk location. For an extra kick of flavor during the fundraiser try the Affogato, a scoop of Guernsey hand dipped ice cream with a shot of espresso poured over it.

"One of the best parts of this business is being able to see familiar faces season after season. Three years ago, I saw a couple on a date, a year after that they were married, and a year after that they had a gorgeous baby girl, that is what makes this a great place to be”.
